Life is good on the UP. It looks like another beautiful week in the U.P. The temps have been on the cool side due to some big winds coming off Lake Superior. The plus side of all that has been the bugs have been very minimal. Let's hope that continues throughout the summer.
Fishing remains productive. Lots of pike are being caught on the Blind Sucker and Muskallonge Lake. Keep in mind both of these lakes have special pike regulations, and you need to know these prior to keeping fish. Between Perch Lake, the Blind Sucker and Muskallonge we have three different sets of regulations. So get to know your regulation book and/or stop into the store and we can explain them to you.
Sucker minnows continue to catch the majority of the pike. According to the story tellers a 40 plus inch fish was lost at the boat this morning and a huge 48" plus fish was also lost at the boat after two unsuccessful attempts at netting the fish. How comes no one talks about the little one that got away?! We have also seen some beautiful pumpkinseeds come off the lake this week.
We picked up over 5" of rain last week alone. Probably the best week of rain we have had in several years. If we can continue with weekly rains then the blueberries will be awesome. Lots of wildflowers are out now.
We continue to have a few openings in our cabins for the next few weeks. We have a two bedroom unit looking at the lake open June 25-July 2. Also have a couple of our one bedroom units open during the same time. July openings include a two bedroom July 9-16 and also one of our one bedroom units is open during the same time. Reservations can be made as easy as a phone call.
We spent a couple of hours down at Oswald's Bear Ranch the other day. What a nice presentation they have. All the bears look well taken care of and happy. If you have not seen this place put it on your "to do' list as it is well worth the cost of admission. Pine Stump continues to produce an extremely quality pizza. Marissa and her crew are providing quality service and great meals. Also put this on your "to do' list as dinner time approaches. You won't be disappointed.
We look forward to seeing you all as the summer progresses along. Get outside and do something.
