Blueberries are now being picked! Seems the berries have ripened up quickly. There's no reason fresh pies, pancakes, cobblers and muffins can't be on the dinner table. It appears the berries will hang around for some time, as there are a lot of green berries still and the high bush berries haven't begun yet.
Fishing is going along just fine. Haven't heard of any spectacular catches lately with the exception of these two nice Northern Pike. It's always nice to hear the excitement from someone when the tell they the story of their catch regardless of the size of the fish. These two worked their way into a wilderness pond and their efforts paid off nicely.
Still lots of Rockbass being caught, in addition to Pike and some decent Perch and Pumpkinseeds coming off Muskallonge Lake. The Walleyes have been pretty elusive lately, not only here but also on many of the area's other lakes.
The weather last week was absolutely perfect and then this week someone turned on the blast furnace. The humidity has been as high as the temperature. Sure hope this isn't a sign of what to expect out of the rest of the summer. Actually, we have lucked out a couple of times this week because the wind shifted briefly from the north. This in turn brought in some cooler air in the form of fog and gave us some relief. The other day it was 92 at Pretty Lake (5 miles south) and it was a cool 81 here at the Lodge. We haven't picked up a lot of rain in the past two weeks, but we have had a few days in which we picked up enough to keep the plants happy. (NOAA forecast looks pretty good through the weekend)
Check out our availability calendar, as we have taken a couple of cancellations for August. We have a one bedroom units (8) open from July 30-Aug 13 and then we have them both (6 & 8) open Aug 20-27. Hope your week is going well and your air conditioning unit is working fine.
Be well and get outside for some fresh air today,
